Access to Information

The Regulation respecting the distribution of information and the protection of personal information, adopted under the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, requires public bodies to distribute specific documents through their Web site. This Access to Information section provides you with access to the documents whose publication is prescribed by the Regulation.

The Access Act also recognizes, in addition to the right of access to documents, the right to access your own personal information and the correction of the information if it is incorrect, incomplete or ambiguous.

Accessible documents
The Access Act applies to all our documents, regardless of whether they are in written, graphic, audio, visual, computerized or any other form.

Exceptions to the right of access
We are entitled to refuse access to a document, in all or in part, when the Access Act provides for exceptions. The main reasons the Act restricts the right of access to certain information are, among others:

personal information, except if the person to whom the information relates consents to its disclosure;
information provided by third parties;
technical, financial, commercial or scientific information;
information that would likely reveal a method of investigation or impair the efficiency of a security program.

If one of these exceptions applies, we can refuse to give access to the requested document or delete certain parts of the document to which we are granting access. We must justify our refusal to grant access. We can also refuse access to an entire document if the information to be deleted forms the substance of the document.
